Welcome to the Department of Educational Administration and Higher Education at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. The mission of the Department is to prepare leaders for administrative and teaching careers in schools, colleges, universities, public and private agencies. Such leaders should be thoroughly grounded in the knowledge base, theoretical models, research paradigms, practical applications, and ethical implications of their respective career paths.
CHAIR'S MESSAGE
Welcome to the Department of Educational Administration and Higher Education at SIUC! Our mission is to prepare practitioners who are interested in working in administrative leadership positions in the public schools or in higher education, including community colleges. The Department offers master's degrees in areas of Educational Administration, Higher Education, and Community College Teaching. Our Ph.D. in Education degree has a Educational Administration specialization.
The Department includes 7 full-time faculty members specializing in law, organizational theory, K-12 administration, higher education administration, community colleges, student affairs, research methodology, and education foundations/cultural studies. The Department also typically employs adjunct professors who are practicing administrators in both the K-12 and higher education arenas to provide a real world perspective to your academic preparation. Internship opportunities are also available to all students. Graduate assistantships for teaching and research and assorted scholarships are also available to support full-time graduate study.
