"This position [as Center Coordinator for COEHS Teacher Education Program] is, without question, the best job I have ever had in so many ways.  It has been fulfilling and rewarding beyond my wildest hopes; I feel like I am doing something that is worthwhile and significant to the lives of others. . . . It is easy to do the work that is required because I never feel I can do enough for students like ours and for a committed staff like ours.  I am always receiving as much or more than I am giving.  For weeks after graduation, I keep remembering those happy faces, and I reminisce again about their amazing accomplishments. "I was enrolled in the SIU/WED program while serving as an Aviation Water Survival Instructor. The experiences gained in this program significantly contributed to my professional success and selection to become a Naval Officer. The classes required a small sacrifice of some of my weekends , but the WED format provided the opportunity to maintain a full time college schedule, maintain competitive performance at work, and still provide time with family. I found SIU to be a convenient, efficient, and enjoyable way to complete my BS degree in a very interesting field of study. Enrolling with SIU was one of the single most important things I did in my enlisted career.
