Before applying for Field Experience review the Student Application Checklist and fill out the coinciding form:
Student Application Checklist:
- On the Application for Professional Education Experiences form, in the section where courses are listed, each course must have its department name, number and the title, such as: Educ. 315, Study of Teaching. There is a completed sample application in Wham 135. At the bottom of the page put an * by the courses and college from which they were transferred.
- Put an (X) by the address on the application to which mail should be delivered. Not indicating the address may cause difficulties in your receiving correspondence. If you have an address or name change, PLEASE notify the Professional Education Experiences office in Wham 135.
- Please note the space provided for Area of Specialization. Business, Music and Special Education students will have to indicate the specialty needed within your major.
- On the Application for Professional Education Experiences form: include all major requirements that are not general studies courses under major. Zoology and Plant Biology majors should include courses in chemistry, physics, and other science areas. Political Science and/or History majors should list those courses completed in both areas.
- The essay portion on the back of the Student Teaching Autobiography form, which must be handwritten black ink on unlined paper.
- In order to process the Professional Semester Application, you must submit the appropriate number of copies. Your application will not be accepted if the correct number of copies are not turned in.
- Tentative professional semester assignments for fall semester will be mailed the middle of the preceding spring semester. Tentative professional semester assignments for spring semester will be mailed at approximately the 6th week of the fall semester.
- Final professional semester assignments will be mailed approximately four (4) weeks prior to the beginning of that semester.
- You must have met the professional semester prerequisites as stated in the Teacher Education Program Brochure and the Undergraduate Catalog by the end of the semester prior to your Professional Semester assignment.
- You are urged to live in the community to which you are assigned for the Professional Semester. Therefore, you are cautioned not to commit yourself to local housing for the Professional Semester.
- For the student teaching semester, register with your advisor and pay fees as you would for any other university term. Register for total student teaching hours in the section of your major. Be sure to apply for graduation in Woody Hall.
