Julie Partridge Ph.D.

Dr. Partridge
has been an assistant professor of sport & exercise psychology at SIUC since
2004. She has a B.S. in Psychology from Kansas State University, an M.A. in
Sport Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a
Ph.D. in Social Psychological Kinesiology with a doctoral minor in
Educational Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado. Prior to
coming to Carbondale, she was a full-time faculty member in the Department
of Integrative Physiology at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Her teaching duties
include Motor Behavior, Psychological Aspects of Sport, Applied Sport
Psychology, Exercise Psychology, and Psychology of Injury. Her research
examines shame coping as an emotional response in sport & exercise, and social
influence in youth sport (parents, peers, siblings, and coaches. She also works
as a sport psychology/performance enhancement consultant with athletes from a
variety of sports/competitive levels, and is the coordinator of the Saluki Sport
Psychology Clinic.
She was recently
named to the faculty of the Academy for Youth Sports Administrators (AYSA),
which is a program of the National Alliance for Youth Sports. The AYSA is the
leading advocate for higher education for youth sports administrators. The
Academy’s goal is to provide youth sport the tools they need to build the body
of knowledge necessary to positively impact the youth sports experience for all
children.
Dr. Partridge also
serves as the Graduate Coordinator for the master’s program (Master of Science
in Education) in the Department of Kinesiology. Please contact her at
