Assistant Professor – Program Director, Athletic Training Education Program
To Begin August 16, 2010
Description of Position
Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology with a specialization in the area of Athletic Training. The selected person will serve as Program Director and will have key responsibilities teaching and providing leadership for the program in Athletic Training Education. Also, the selected person will provide clinical instruction in the undergraduate Athletic Training Education Program.
Requirements of the Position
The rank of Assistant Professor requires a doctorate in Kinesiology or related area. Applicants who have completed all requirements except the dissertation will be considered. If official evidence of completion of all requirements for the doctorate is not received by August 15, 2010, the position offered will be a term appointment with the rank of Instructor at a lower salary.
The position includes the following additional requirements:
1. BOC certification
2. Five years experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer
3.
4. Knowledge of and experience with CAATE Accreditation Standards
5. Preference will be given to applicants with experience at the university level teaching undergraduate courses in athletic training
6.
Responsibilities of the Position
Primary responsibilities include but may not be limited to the following:
1. Serve as Program Director of Athletic Training Education with administrative
duties including recruitment, retention, and assessment of students
2. Teaching courses in the undergraduate Athletic Training Education Program
3. Teach graduate courses as interest and qualifications dictate
4. Assist with clinical education and supervision of athletic training students
5. Conduct research in area of interest
6. Advise graduate students and direct student research, projects and internships
7. Service activities at the department, college, university, and community levels
Appointment and Salary
This position is a continuing tenure-track appointment. Appointment is for a nine-month academic year. An additional summer appointment may be possible contingent upon funding and student demand. Salary and rank are commensurate with experience and background. Progress in rank and salary will require demonstration of productivity in teaching, research, and service.
